Hole In One
Ian Preston has today, Wednesday 19th May, recorded his 6th Hole in One while playing the 9th Hole here at Dewsbury District Golf Club. He used an eight Iron at the 132 yards famous "Tom Morris" hole.
His round was also memorable for another reason, his playing partner, who shall remain nameless, lost his clubs (the full set including the bag and trolley) whilst playing the 12th hole. The player chipped onto the green and then replaced his wedge into his bag which was on an electric trolley and took out his putter. On completion of the hole he returned only to find his clubs had disappeared. After Initially believing they had been stolen he began looking around and after few minutes and with no luck in locating them he returned to the clubhouse leaving his playing partners to continue their rounds. He searched the course using a buggy only to eventually find them abandoned in the gorse alongside the 10th hole some 500 yards from where they were lost. Apparently the trolley had not been turned off properly and had just carried on till it came to rest in the gorse.
Ian, a former Club Captain, did not let this spoil his celebration, as he in the traditional manner bought a drink for everyone in the clubhouse on his return.
