Rabbits v Tigers 2018

The 4th annual Rabbits v Tigers match took place on Saturday the 13th of September.

The Rabbits were looking for their first win against the Tigers since this matched was reintroduced in 2015, or put another way, the a Tigers had won the last three years. The Rabbits Captain, Ron Ely had put together his team well in advance of the fixture, determined to halt the run of loses. Rick Towler took the responsibility to lead and organise the Tigers team, due to the Club Captain being away. Teams consisted of 12 players each, playing in a 4BBB match play format, with 9/10th being taken off the lowest handicapped player, and white tees were used. Both team Captains had put their final pairing together the week before, and an hour before the first tee time these pairings were revealed, each Captain trying to blend his pairings to achieve the win. The match was played in decent conditions, as the morning rain had stopped in time for the match to commence at 1pm. After the first three matches had been completed the Tigers had a two to one lead, with the match seemingly very much in the balance, however the Rabbits only managed one more win, meaning the Tigers won the match with four wins to two. After the match , both teams enjoyed a meal, with the presentation of the trophy taking place. Once again this event was enjoyed by all the players, combining social and competitive golf perfectly. I’m sure next year will again be supported well, and another great day will be had, however the question still exists , can the a Rabbits somehow break the hold the Tigers have on this event?
